Dueling pianos in Napa & Sonoma

Modern Dueling Pianos two-piano setup

Wine country events tend to start slow and elegant and end with everyone singing. A dueling piano show fits that arc perfectly. We open with relaxed piano during tastings or dinner, then turn the requests loose once the glasses are full.

Barrel rooms and vineyard lawns

Our piano shells and sound look right at home in a barrel room, and the rig works outdoors on standard power.

Wine-club and release parties

Requests from the members keep the night personal and give the winery a party people talk about.

Weddings

Cocktail-hour piano, then a full interactive reception. We can learn your first-dance or entrance songs.

Wine country we know

James has played Napa and Sonoma weddings and winery events for years, and Modern Dueling Pianos has played corporate dinners in the region, including a Silverado event in January 2026. On the North Bay side, our performed-for list also includes Skywalker Ranch.

From tasting room to dance floor

A winery event usually starts slow: guests wander, taste, and chat. We play softer piano during that time. When dinner ends, the request slips come out and the barrel room turns into a piano bar. That shift from elegant to fun is what makes a dueling piano show work so well in wine country.

Weddings in the vines

For weddings, many couples book James for ceremony music, then the full dueling show for the reception. We can learn your entrance and first-dance songs, work with your planner on timing, and keep volume in line with the venue's rules.

Corporate dinners and incentive trips

Napa and Sonoma host a lot of executive dinners and sales trips. An interactive show gives guests something to do besides talk shop, and it gives the host a memorable night without a lot of planning.

Noise limits and curfews

Many wine-country venues have strict end times and decibel limits. We set our sound to the space and plan the show so it ends on a high note before curfew.

Working with wine-country venues

Many Napa and Sonoma venues have preferred-vendor lists, insurance requirements and set load-in windows. Send us the venue rules early and we will handle certificates of insurance, arrival times and parking for our van. For outdoor estate events we bring weather covers for the gear and plan a backup indoor spot with your coordinator. If the venue needs music to end at 10 PM, we build the show so the biggest sing-along lands right before the last song.

Song ideas for a wine-country night

During tastings and dinner, guests love standards like Fly Me to the Moon, Billy Joel and Elton John ballads, and acoustic-style versions of current hits. When the request slips start, wine country crowds tend to go big: Sweet Caroline, Piano Man, Don't Stop Believin', Friends in Low Places, Mr. Brightside and a Motown run that gets the whole patio up. Couples often ask for a song from where they met or a family favorite from each side. Write it on a slip and it is in the show. If there is a song you do not want to hear, tell us that too, and it stays off the list.
